Filmmaker James Cameron knows how to achieve box office success. His latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, had a successful Christmas weekend at the box office.
The third installment grossed $181.2 million overseas. Avatar 3 has brought in a title of $760.4 million by the end of the weekend. There’s no doubt that by the end of next weekend, Avatar 3 will reach $1 billion worldwide.
For Cameron, it is not a surprise because he has been through this before with the previous Avatar films and even Titanic. Cameron is one of the most brilliant filmmakers we have ever seen in cinematic history. Cameron has a writing talent, producing, shooting with a camera, directing, and editing. What can’t he do in film? He’s a student of the art of cinema.
There are other films enjoying box-office success, such as Zootopia 2 and A24’s Marty Supreme. The holiday season brings out the best of cinema and makes moviegoers want to spend money. Movie theaters make a lot of their money during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
All three films are heavy Oscar contenders. Marty Supreme is very intriguing because it features an incredible actor in Timothee Chalamet, is produced by A24, one of the best film production companies in the game, and is a sports comedy-drama. Marty Supreme has done a great job with marketing and promotion. It has gotten a lot of attention on social media.
Avatar 3, Zootopia 2, and Marty Suoremee will most likely receive Oscar nominations. Avatar 3 will definitely receive recognition on a technical level. It would be great if Cameron earns a nomination for Best Director. He’s won the award in the post. Zootopia 2 should receive a Best Animated Feature nomination. As for Marty Supreme, the guess is that the film will receive Best Picture and Best Actor nominations.
The 98th Academy Award nominations will be announced on Thursday, Jan 22. All three films are enjoying their success, and the producers and the entire team behind them must be thrilled.
