The Boston Red Sox have put their full trust in manager Chad Tracy after a major turnaround.
Tracy is no longer the interim manager. He is the official manager of the Red Sox. Tracy is now the 49th manager in franchise history and signed a three-year contract extension.
The Red Sox recently clinched a playoff berth. Back in June, the team didn’t look like it could make the playoffs. What they did from July through early September was magical. Tracy led the Red Sox to a 74-55 record, which included a 15-game win streak that tied the franchise record set in 1946.
By June 15, the Red Sox had a 32-46 record and were 15 1/2 games behind in the AL East division. Baseball history shows that a team can get hit during the summer or the second half of the season. The Red Sox caught fire at the end of the first half and continued throughout the second half of the season.
It’s not easy for a manager to take over a team during the middle of the season. Alex Cora did a great job managing the Red Sox. He led them to a World Series title in 2018. But this season, the front office and Cora could no longer continue, and losing was becoming repetitive.
Tracy handles everything with class and professionalism. He’s only 41 years old, and he’s getting a taste of early success with a new team. The Red Sox are a franchise that wants to win right away. They have a talented lineup and a solid bullpen.
The American League is wide open. Any team can come out of the American League. Let’s see who will win the pennant this season. The Red Sox front office hopes Tracy can lead this group to years of dominance.
