Republican Mark Teixeira, a three-time Major League Baseball All-Star, has won election to the U.S. House in Texas’ 21st Congressional District.

Teixeira has never been in politics. It’s the first time he decided to run. The former first baseman hit many home runs in his career. Now, he hit another one, but for politics. Texiera defeated Democrat Kristin Hook, a former federal scientist who worked for the National Institutes of Health and the Government Accountability Office.

Texas is where Texeira started his baseball career. During his prime years with the Rangers, he was a ferocious hitter. Teixeira would have been a Hall of Famer had it not been for the injuries. He was one of the best defensive first basemen of his era. Teixeira earned five Gold Glove Awards. He also won the 2009 World Series championship with the Yankees in his first year with the pinstripes.

“Faith, Family and Country” has been the central focus of Teixeira’s campaign. He wants Texas to be better and is looking to work with individuals to help strengthen the state.

Teixeira won the Republican primary for Congress with more than 61% of the vote in March. Before politics, Teixeira preached a lot about financial literacy. Many athletes struggle with money after they retire from baseball. This wasn’t the case with Teixeira. He used his money wisely. Teixeira is no stranger to speaking his mind. He did it as a baseball analyst, teammate, and now as a politician.

Not too many people are fans of Teixeira and his attitude. Politics is not everyone’s favorite cup of tea because politicians will say anything to get votes. Let’s see how Teixeira will answer now that he came out victorious.

Teixeira finished his career in 2021 when he announced his retirement. He had a total of 409 home runs and 1,298 RBIs. From 2004 through 2011, Teixeira reached 30 home runs in a single season. Teixeira finished in the top 10 AL MVP voting twice (2005, 2009).
