U.S. President Donald Trump advocates for increased coal production in the United States.
IEEFA said in a report that Trump’s executive orders could potentially delay the closure of coal-fired power plants and encourage the restart of 102 recently shut coal-fired units.
The Apple and India Connection
Apple made a discreet plan to boost India’s production. The details of the push provide insight into the U.S. smartphone company’s private strategy to circumvent the Trump tariffs and build up inventory of its popular iPhones in the United States.
The Indian government helped Apple clear customs faster. Apple counts India as an emerging manufacturing hub.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy and Other Entrepreneurs Are Concerned
CEOs, investors, economists, and many others have been vocal against the tariffs and raised concerns about a recession. One of the latest CEOs to voice his opinion is Amazon’s Andy Jassy.
Jassy said, “I’m guessing sellers will pass that cost on.” Media and tech stocks have been dropping, and Amazon has been down by 7 percent. Many companies are nervous.
Warner Bros. Discovery dropped to 16%. Disney shares are down 8%, Comcast is off by 6%, Netflix is off by 4%, and Paramount is off by 3%. Meta has lowered to 8%, Apple to 7%, and Alphabet to 6%.
