Lyft and Waymo are forming a new partnership to launch autonomous rides in Nashville in 2026.
Lyft CEO David Risher joined CNBC’s ‘Squawk on the Street’ to discuss the partnership and the plans for the future.
“This is just getting started,” Risher said. “Last year, we really sat down and said What is a great deal for Waymo? Great for Lyft, great riders. We developed this demand generation and fleet management construct. I think it’s going to be great in Nashville.”
Risher continues to expand on the details of the partnership and the number of rides that occur daily in North America. He’s very passionate about the ideas he has in mind.
“The demand generation side means we do 2 million rides a day across North America,” Risher said. “A lot of those are in Nashville, and so we’ve got all the demand that a company like Waymo needs to keep their fleet utilized.
The goal for both companies is to keep the cars clean, ensuring they are well-maintained, and to make the world a better place.
Uber is the biggest competitor to Lyft. This partnership can give Lyft an edge over them. Lyft believes it has more cars available than Uber and is more dependable.
David is excited about this partnership and believes that it will last for years. His optimism and enthusiasm are felt through the interview with CNBC. Customer service is vital to the success for any business. David values individuals with extensive experience and a strong commitment to customer service.
Lyft is likely to continue growing because everything seems to be working in its favor. David is familiar with the rules of business and will continue to meet his customers’ needs.
The Lyft and Waymo partnership includes the following:
– Integrated fleet management services through its Flexdrive subsidiary
– vehicle maintenance, infrastructure, and depot operations
Risher has served as CEO for Lyft since 2023.
