The New York Knicks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-108 on Saturday to take a commanding 3-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks in scoring with 30 points to go with 6 assists and 3 rebounds. Mikal Bridges added 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Bridges is having himself quite a series, and this is what the Knicks need to see from him consistently.
As for the Cavs, Evan Monley led the team with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.
The Knicks have won 10 in a row. Offensively and defensively, the team is hitting on all cylinders. Their versatility has been sensational. It’s not just one player who impacts the team’s success; it’s everyone, including bench players. Landry Shamot made some big threes in the second half off the bench.
The Knicks are arguably the most dangerous team left in the playoffs. They are one win away from heading to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
Cleveland does not look like the same team from the Detroit series. There’s a lack of leadership and determination that’s missing in the team. James Harden is having a lousy series, especially on the defensive end. No one thought the Knicks would take a 3-0 commanding lead over this Cavs team. Many expected this series to be competitive.
The Cavs might win Game 4 to avoid getting swept, but the Knicks will close it out in Game 5 if they can’t do it on Monday on the road. It would be surprising if the Cavs could somehow extend the series to six games.
The winner of this series will play against the San Antonio Spurs or the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Finals. Game 4 between the Knicks and Cavs will be on Monday night in Cleveland.
