Bonnie Tyler, singer of ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart,’ has passed away at the age of 75.
Tyler exploded onto the scene in the 1980s with her hit anthem, and another song she’s known for is “Total Eclipse.” Her music is best described as a blend of country, pop, and rock. The Welsh singer gained public attention starting in the late 1970s with her second album, Natural Force.
In that album, Tyler scored a major worldwide hit single with “It’s a Heartache.” Tyler was an impeccable singer and outstanding songwriter. Throughout her career, Tyler had an insane work ethic. We are talking about an artist who recorded 18 studio albums, over 80 singles, and three live albums.
“Bitterblue,” which came out in 1991, is one of her successful albums. With this album, she reached a lot of fans, especially in Europe. Tyler worked with German singer, songwriter, and producer Dieter Bohlen. Together, Tyler and Bohlen wrote and produced multiple songs. The album has 14 tracks. “Bitterblue” and “Against the World” are some of the best songs on the album. Bitterblue went platinum three times.
Some people might forget, but Tyler was also instrumental in creating a song that featured in the Footloose movie soundtrack. Tyler made “Holding Out for a Hero,” which peaked at number 34 in the U.S. 1984 was a great year for her because she also recorded “Here She Comes.” Much credit goes to Peter Bellote and Giorgio Moroder for writing the song.
The album “The Very Best of Bonnie Tyler” is a special one and reached an accomplishment that hadn’t been done in years. Tyler released the album in 2017, and it made it to the Billboard 200 for the first time since 1986.
Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bryan Adams, and many others paid tribute to Tyler. Her loyal fanbase will never forget her legacy in music and her raspy voice.
