The Minnesota Vikings will honor running back Adrian Peterson with induction into their Ring of Honor on November 9 during Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills.
Peterson is one of the best to ever play at the position. It’s a remarkable honor for such a gifted player. Peterson was magnificent to watch every Sunday. The Vikings were fortunate to have him for many years. The story would have been much greater had Peterson won with the Vikings.
However, Peterson won something bigger than the Super Bowl. He won the hearts of the fans. He won by establishing a legacy in Minnesota. One of the things that brings joy to a player is that he’s a beloved figure in an organization. The journey to the Vikings organization started in 2007.
At the 2007 NFL Draft, the Vikings selected Peterson as the seventh overall pick in the first round. No one in Minnesota would have imagined what they were tuning in for. Peterson blessed the city of Minnesota by accomplishing many goals, such as winning the 2012 MVP. What he did that season was unbelievable. Peterson finished the 2012 season with 2,097 yards. Peterson had one unforgettable game as a rookie where he rushed for a record 296 yards.
Injuries are a part of the game. Had Peterson been more durable, he would have had more yards and more touchdowns. November 9 will be a day Peterson and his family will never forget. The Ring of Honor is a huge honor that only football players and coaches will understand more than fans and sports writers.
Peterson will join an elite group of Vikings greats who have received this honor, such as Cris Carter and Randy Moss. Peterson will become the 29th member to receive the honor.
