A tragedy occurred on Sunday evening as a plane crash killed people in Greenacres, Florida. Nine people didn’t make it.
Four of the nine deceased were a family from Austin, Texas. Tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen, and their two children were among the nine people killed in the crash. Robinson had a successful career. Robinson attended Rice University in Houston. He graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, Spanish, and managerial studies.
Robinson played for the basketball team during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. The school was shocked and saddened by Robinson’s passing. All of the passengers were special. They were someone’s son, daughter, brother, sister, etc. It’s always heartbreaking when a person leaves this earth in that fashion, and it’s more excruciating when the holidays are around the corner.
The flight, a Learjet 60, went into a rapid descent while traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas before exploding in a fireball near Lake Worth Beach. Icing and turbulence began around 1 p.m. ET. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said weather conditions would be a major focus of the investigation.
The accident brings back memories of when Flight 587 perished in Belle Harbor, Queens, NY, on Nov 12, 2001. It’s about to be 25 years since this awful tragedy where no one survived. Over 200 passengers and crew members died on that plane.
In the Florida plane crash, the captain and co-pilot were involved. Jeffery Gregory was the captain; he was 55. The co-pilot was very young, in her 20s. Nathalia Gadelha was 20 years old. She began to take flight lessons six years ago. By 17, Gadelha earned her pilot’s license.
She trained very hard. She was ahead of everyone else at such a young age. Nathalia was getting her life started. To think that her life was cut short due to this tragedy is unbelievably crushing to her family, friends, and former teachers and classmates at West Boca Raton High School.
