The Missouri Tigers will take on the Texas A&M Aggies this weekend.
It is one of the most exciting games of Week 6. The Tigers are coming off a decisive victory over the Florida Gators, which moved them 11 spots up in the AP Poll. If they need more inspiration to beat the Aggies, then this story of Johnnie “DJ” Jones might be it.
The offensive lineman received a heart transplant on Wednesday night. It’s a feel-good, touching story for any football or Tigers fan. The surgery went well, and Jones is recovering.
Although the surgery went well, the prayers are still coming, and there is still more work to do. Jones has the support of doctors, family, friends, and the entire Missouri program. He’s a 6-foot-6, 315-pound freshman from Florida. Jones is considered one of the top offensive linemen coming out of high school.
No matter what age a person may be, young or old, when it comes to heart problems, it can happen to anyone. Anyone can have a heart transplant at any age. A special donor can help save lives. Jones is a young man. We hope he has a bright future, whether he plays football for a long time or pursues a different career after college.
When life gives you a second chance, it’s wise to take advantage of it. It’s a blessing that the family will get to see the young man live and deliver many great moments to come.
Jones’ teammates will be fueled by his recovery. This game against the Aggies will mean something more. They’ll play with more confidence and tenacity.
Aggies and Tigers will square off at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Missouri. Kickoff will be at 12 pm ET, or 11am Central Time. Tigers’ leader quarterback Austin Simmons leads the offense with 1,287 passing yards. Simmons is on a mission.
The Tigers are looking to improve to 5-1.
