“The Pitt” and “Widow’s Bay” were among the big winners at Monday’s Primetime Emmy Awards.
It was no surprise that Noah Wyle won Best Lead Actor in an Outstanding Drama Series. Wyle leads the show and is the main reason The Pitt is such a fantastic show. If you want to watch the series, check it out on HBO Max. Wyle had a great suit for the occasion. The category had competition, but Wyle has been on fire since the show debuted.
Wyle has been nominated 23 times and won 16 throughout the run of the show. He also serves as writer, director, and executive director.
The Pitt took home Outstanding Drama Series. The series won for the same category last year and repeated this year. The Pitt won seven Emmys out of 25 nominations.
Matthew Rhys is a fantastic actor. We saw his potential on FX’s The Americans, where he starred alongside his wife and fellow actress, Keri Russell. Rhys made history by taking home two Emmys: Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Widow’s Bay and Lead Actor in a Limited Series for “The Beast in Me.”
Widow’s Bay won 14 Emmys out of 19 nominations.
Legendary actress Sally Field becomes the oldest Emmy winner for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.
The 79-year-old has been in the industry for seven decades. Field has done it all from stage to screen. She has won a Tony, a Golden Globe, an Oscar, and an Emmy. She’s still in the top of her game and continues to work relentlessly.
Vince Gilligan is back in the award game. Gilligan won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Series for his science-fiction show, Pluribus. Gilligan is a genius when he writes a show. Anything he touches turns into gold.
Michael J. Fox received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award. Fox is very courageous and limitless. Anyone can learn from him.
Stephen Colbert and his show got the last hurrah by winning an Emmy.
The sad part of the award show is the remembrance. It’s one of the saddest ones we’ve had in a long time. Macaulay Culkin and the cast of Schitt’s Creek gave a speech in memory of Catherine O’Hara. Culkin tried his best to keep it together. It was very difficult for him to give his speech honoring his film mom from the Home Alone film series.
