One Tree Hill is one of the best teen shows to hit television in the 21st century. Now, there’s a special event celebrating the show’s 23rd anniversary.
The “Hey 23: A Call Back to Tree Hill’ event is a homage to the show, which hit the airwaves on The WB in 2003. It’s hard to believe that it’s been that long since the show debuted on television. One Tree Hill ran for nine seasons. Lots of impeccable characters and storylines. The show features Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz, Hilarie Burton, and many more.
The show had many memorable episodes, whether it took place on the basketball court, family drama at home, or at the cafe. The locations shot in Wilmington, North Carolina, made fans want to visit and see for themselves. Wilmington is also home to another teen show, Dawson’s Creek.
The event of Hey 23 took place on September 19th. Nearly 5,000 fans attended at UNC Wilmington’s Trask Coliseum. Fans were lucky to witness this unforgettable event and see some recognizable faces from the cast. One of the best things fans will never forget is the theme song.
Gavin DeGraw’s 2003 hit “I Don’t Want To Be” is a song fans still sing to this day. If someone is watching the reruns of the show, they will not skip the theme song. That’s how good it is. Before it became The CW, The WB had two of the best teen shows, with two great theme songs.
Lafferty, who played Nathan Scott, had real-life basketball skills. The role became natural to him. In the show, he’s a very talented basketball player who dreamed of reaching the NBA.
Another cast member with a recurring role in Season 5 and real-life basketball experience is Robbie Jones. He played Quentin “Q” Fields. Jones played ball in college during the late 1990s.
